I got my first shot in early April. I'll get my second May 4 ( Star Wars Day). That night is opening night for the Jersey Shore Blue Claws. I'm contemplating going. My true breakout day however is in the end of May. Mets vs. Rockies at Citifield.

Inspiration for songwriters can take many forms. I once heard that Merle Travis wrote his famous coalmining song "Dark as a Dungeon " while standing under a street light in Los Angeles waiting for a date. Through the years I've established an internet relationship with twice Grammy nominated singer-guitarist-songwriter Richard Thompson. His routine is what helps him write songs that have been recorded by REM, Los Lobos, David Gilmour, Bonnie Raitt, David Byrne, etc. He sets a certain time of the morning to write and he even likes to use a certain paper that he buys in Belgium when on tour. Everyone is different.

I played in various bar bands during the 70s and 80s. I come from the generation that loves "Love Hurts" from the Everly Brothers and Roy Orbison. My favorite version is from Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris. My version was based on theirs. I was always grateful for Nazereth's version although what seemed to hurt them is what gave their singer a sore throat. LOL. However Nazereth's version was known to my audience and gave them a reference point. Good going guys.
