A musician that I've met, Dougie McLean wrote the theme that is the prominent part of the Last of the Mohicans soundtrack. He calls that track "The Gael". He lives near Dunkeld, Scotland and performs a music that's part traditional Scottish and part early James Taylor. If you're interested in listening to him, I recommend an album called Tribute which is a tribute to Robert Burns, Niel Gow and Robert Tannahill. He also wrote "Ready for the Storm" a country hit for Kathy Mattea. Happy listening.

Groundhog Day is my favorite movie. I do see it somewhat differently than you do. To me it's a comparison between Aristotle's philosophy and that of Nietzche. Which one will lead to a happy life? The film takes Aristotle's side. It uses Nietzche's theory of eternal recurrence to put Phil Connors in a time loop. After Connors realizes that he's going to relive the same day over and over with no consequence, he indulges in nonvirtuous behavior. After awhile he realizes that will not make him happy. He falls in love with Rita. Why? I think it's because of her character. He tries to con her but she sees through him. He starts to actually become a good person. How? He follows Aristotle's advise, he starts performing good deeds. He starts pursuing excellence( the meaning of virtue in Greek). He becomes a good person which interests Rita. She makes an all out commitment to him and the situation resolves. The film is about the meaning of life. Who knew Bill Murray had it in him?
