My favorite is an Australian greatest hits package. "You don't Know Me" is a brilliant composition. The melody descends during "blue" moments and ascends during more hopeful moments. Brilliant. It has informed my own songwriter. I change to minor chords from major ones when I want to make the song sadder. Cindy Walker is one of the most neglected songwriters. During the 1970s I had conversations with young female musicians who thought that Joni Mitchell was the first great female songwriter.
