To me the ultimate "they couldn't make this movie "ts "Blazing Saddles. I'll give you an example of one "Woke'" person's reaction. In the WashPO a discussion was taking place about AOC, Omar, Joy Reid etc.My comment was a line from the film "Where are all the white women at?" A Righteous Sister pulled the Race Card on me. I pointed out the authorship of the line as Richard Pryor. Boy did her tone change. If that's the lack of thought that your thought generates;; please shut up.
Tastes change. I watched a video of "The Producers." I saw the movie at least 20 years ago and laughed from beginning to end. I'd never seen anything that funny.
I watched it again a few days ago and was surprised that I felt uncomfortable by the frequent jokes about gay men. I am not gay, but I've known guys who are. Some of them have been friends. Now I'm offended by what I laughed my ass off over 20 years ago.
Blazing Saddles has long been the top of my list of inappropriate but brilliantly hilarious movies, from the storyline to every single character. Mel Brooks is a comedic genius.
For television it has to be In Living Color, the vehicle that gave us the Wayans brothers who now want to disavow the seed of their fame. Two snaps!
never seen an episode. i stopped finding network tv humor lacking decades ago. just as there are only 7 stories, there's only a handful of funnies. i'm old school, so new actors in old roles don't appeal to me much. probably John Lithgow in 3rd Rock was the last funny role, although Will and Grace had some moments. NOW GET OFF MY LAWN!!!
"Better Off Ted" did some edgy stuff about working at a large corporation its all-too-short life. And the corporate commercials they created as part of the gag are among the best, short bits in recent memory.

Have you seen the British version it's based off? Even better. I reckon it probably could but maybe on streaming services only.
