The Road is such an amazing book- one of my favorites as well. In fact, it helped me book a job recently as the director and I had that bond. Can't wait for his other two! Oh, and his interview- perfection. Isn't it exactly what you would expect from him?

I will disagree about Will Smith. I'm not a fan of his. I once even once ruined a movie that he was filming. I told you about that a couple of columns ago. I have no idea if Rock knew about Jada's condition. I suppose that Rock is more familiar with the Smiths than you are. He might not have known but perhaps Rock understands that "comedy" has become incredibly cruel and thought that he could get away with it. I don't know. As for Smith's laugh, it might have been a nervous reflexive laugh and then he realized true nature of the remark. My wife died from cancer 4 years ago and if someone made a joke about her chemotherapy side effects, they'd still be pulling me off them. Smith's slap was measured and the remarks that I've seen about "violence" have seemed to come from the PC snowflake crowd who reflexively can't justify any use of force. You know like people who equate Putin and Zelensky. I agree that the response to having your wife insulted lies somewhere between that of Smith and that of Ted Cruz but I get Will's point and now so does Chris Rock.

Cormac McCarthy is one of my favorite authors.

In regards to Smith and Rock dustup, IMO performative theater. Kayfabe

My mom refused to help me get my driver's license since I kept steering into opposing traffic automatically when another car approached. I ended up waiting until I was 27 to get it. Been a cautious driver my whole driving life. :-)

Good luck!

Love Sandford and Sons. Good music, too.

Dogs in bibs are always cute, no matter what.

Very happy for your book sales.
