I love James Brown. I had tickets to see him at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank NJ when he died. I had seen him once before at the Apollo in New York. I like the Righteous Brothers. When I was once playing music in a club in New Jersey, a lady asked me if we could play "Unchained Melody". It was her 10th anniversary. She and her husband were busy raising children and they didn't get out much. It was "their song"when they courted. Me and my musical partner were familiar with the song but didn't play it. We could tell how disappointed she was so between sets we went in the men's room and worked out an arrangement. We opened the next set with it. I can still remember their faces nearly fifty years later. That's the power of music.
